If you come across any coaching institute material make sure why you are buying that material. Are you able to find something in those book which is not easy to get information on (or) You are buying it simply because it is a great coaching institute or you have seen everyone carrying it around or your friend recommended it. If you follow the second way you will end up buying every institute material and reading nothing but spending your money on useless bunch of books. So before buying any material first go through the syllabus and make sure you got all info from the above said books, incase you don’t get then think of buying material with that “specific topic”. By focusing on the above 6 to 8 books and the latest current affairs mostly you don’t need any other material. All we need is 120 in every paper and another 20 in interview( total 380) to get a group 2 service.

    hi Dilip
Preparation time for group2 is very less
I am from English medium how should i prepare for it,
its not possible to read all the books(ncert)
so plz suggest me how to start preparation,
for paper -2 indian polity and paper-3 Indian economy
    which books i should refer……

    • May 28, 2012 at 10:04 PM

      Hi Neersasri,
The best approach at this stage is to get hold of any coaching institute material like RC reddy/laqshya or any one available in bookshops in ashoknagar, hyd to speed up your preparation. If you are a complete fresher then it may not be possible to sink all the material in this short time of 45 days.Try your best if you are committed in your preparation.

      • May 30, 2012 at 9:06 AM

For indian polity and economics most of the coaching materials are in telugu only, since i’m from eng medium so which books should i read….? i’m comiting my complete time for groups only so in what way should i start prepare for polity and economics…should i start first reading the ncert books for basic idea on economy….?
some people suggest me the books for polity -laxmikanth
        indian economy -dutt & sundaram….

        • May 30, 2012 at 11:05 AM

          Hi Neersasri,
To get basic idea of economy NCERT books helps a lot.Your choice of books for Polity and economy is very good for mains but you should prepare your own notes. If you can get any EM material(For polity, krishna pradeep) just buy it or even TM material to know how questions are framed and relevant answers written to guide in your own preparation.

          • June 14, 2012 at 8:06 PM

            Hi Dilip,
For indian polity i am preparing from krishna pradeep’s material(21st century ias) is this enough for paper 2 part-II as this book doesn’t cover some topics or should i also refer any coaching material notes….

            • June 14, 2012 at 11:15 PM

              Hi Neersa,
Krishna pradeep material is good, but use it only as a guide for your own thought process. If you don’t find anything missing in any material prepare on your own by following reference books/other coaching material.Try to prepare a skeleton notes for every topic to expand for complete answer and don’t reproduce same coaching material in exam as it will be read by so many students. You are free to ask anything only if i remain anonymous and i assure you are guided in right path as i walked this path before!

    • May 29, 2012 at 8:20 PM

      Hi raju,
For economic survey use 2011 and for population census use both 2001 and 2011 for comparative study. For AP literature you must refer AP history books.

    hello sir,

Sorry to post this question, but i really want to know…

Will the R.C.REDDY material purchased this time be useful for me in preparing for the exam next year also (apart from current affairs)???

I’m preparing from group2 this time… Will the group1 material and group 2 material of the r.c.reddy be the same or the group 1 material be more elaborative???

Will purchasing group 1 material make the group 2 preparation more difficult???

I’m asking like this because I believe that the in group 1 there will b a subjective test also so will the information available on the group 1 books be very elaborate than g2;there by it will take a lot more time…

kndly suggest me whether to buy g1 or g2 material sir….

    June 1, 2012 at 7:30 AM

    Sir,

I have purchased History and Culture of AP by P. Raghunadha Rao (sterling)

This book didn’t cover many topics. I’ve listed them below:

Ikshvakur and their cultural contribution: BUddhism and Jainism

    2. Socio cultural and religious condidtions in Andhra Desha between first and fifteenth centuries of christian era.

    3. Establishmnet of british rule -1857 revolt and its impact on andhra and hyderabad; socio cultural awakening adi andhra/dalit and justice/ self respect movementsn:
    anit zamindari kisan movements

    4. adi hindu movement

    5. Growth of leftist/commmunist mvement in telangana
    important historical events after 1956.

This book has not covered (few r not covered thorougly ) in PR Rao book…

what material should I depend on to complete this part of my syllabus sir???

    June 1, 2012 at 7:35 AM

    sir,

Sorry to post such a question….

Is it possible to purchase only paper 3 (4 that matter paper 1 or paper 2) only in the market from koti or ashok nagar…

or should one have to buy the entire set of books of RC REDDY material…

Also where in ashok nagar can 1 buy these books?

    regards,
    naveen

    • June 1, 2012 at 11:16 AM

      Hi naveen,
If you are preparing for G-2 buy G-2 material only not G-1.G-1 material will be in question and answer approach and doesn’t suit for G-2 prep.Elaborate material should be studied only from reference books and coaching material should be used to guide you in your preparation and filling the gaps wherever standard reference material is not available.A.P History(raghunatha rao) book was written long time back covering the core aspects of AP history and it is not written for APPSC Groups exams. Barring some rulers after Ikshvakus and adi andhra/dalit/ adi hindu movements everything else is covered in PR book.

“Socio cultural and religious condidtions in Andhra Desha between first and fifteenth centuries of christian era” topic means from sathavahanas until Reddy/vijayanagara period in AP and this is covered in PR book.Go through the book carefully to see where the material is lacking and read them from coaching material.

Buy whatever books you require and in Asoknagar you will get them in bookshops( only 2) surrounding RC reddy study circle.

Leave G-1 this time and try for G-2.You got all the right books for each subject but you need manage them in this short time before exam.Read Coaching material for each subject and refer text books (like P raghunath, telugu academy) wherever you got doubts.

Geography ramana raju. 6 mental ability nageswara Raoul. In these books plz suggest me the good faculty books.and also intimate whether any waste material in these to save my time. Plz suggest me any book useful for my short preparation.AP history p v k prasad is it enough for AP history culture. What is the target marks for achieving executive post and asst section officer in non executive.I am working as clerk cum cashier in SBI.PLZ SUGGEST ME. THANK U

        • June 2, 2012 at 9:46 PM

          Hi Kamesh,
You got all the good material for all papers and there is no waste material in the entire syllabus.I usually mention RC reddy for an example of decent coaching institute for material and you can chose other institute/faculty material as long as they are covering all aspects of syllabus. In AP history you can chose P raghunatha rao for modern history part. There is no target for executive post but you will have great chance if can score 110-120 in every paper.

              HI Kamesh,
Use Chiranjeevi and Prabhakar material to speed up your preparation and refer to those academy/krishna reddy/Laxmikanth books for clarification of your doubts and to practice bit banks at the end of those books.

hi kamesh may i know where you got RC reddy coching matirils n xerox

  19. June 2, 2012 at 1:31 PM

    Hi Sir,
Sir I went to R.C. Reddy circle bookshops for G-I mains material and I found that the books they are selling for mains is written notes from classes and not exactly material. I even went to that particular xerox shop that u have mentioned in one of your blogs. So I am not sure if it is reliable or to be appropriate complete material to prepare for G-I mains. Do u think it is a good idea to buy those notes and study and still be sure of getting a service in G-I mains. Please guide. Thank you.

    • June 2, 2012 at 2:02 PM

      Hi Kiran,
You get written class notes only anywhere in the bookshops and you should use it only as a guide for your own notes preparation using the reference books.Even if you get hold of any “exact material(like guide)” by attending coaching/through friends still you have to prepare your own notes to express yourself in exam in your own words. If you really want to see what is taught at coaching attend coaching for any one paper you wish and evaluate whether you need coaching or you can manage with your own notes with some guidance from class notes. It all depends on individual level of comfort to accommodate different approaches to exam preparation.

hello sir…how i can prepare g2exams..there is only 50 days time..so how i can manage it.bcoz im fresher .so pls help me

    • June 3, 2012 at 9:52 PM

      Hi Manoj,
50 days is not enough for fresher to crack G-II exam as you need to absorb lot of information in such short period and this time is used for revision only. You need to start preparation at least 6 months before exam date to get a complete grasp of syllabus and two revisions.Use this time to prepare for future G-2 exam or other APPSC exams.

    Hi Dillip,
I have given IPO exam on may 6th,2012 .I am getting 105 marks in paper-1(sakshi key) and around 90 (90-95) in paper-2.How much can be the cut off for the exam?
Do I have a chance to qualify.
When can we expect the results?
    Thanks…

    • June 3, 2012 at 9:58 PM

      Hi Ramu,
There is no reliable key around to know the marks for Paper-2 in IPO exam.So everyone is reporting in the range of 75-100 in paper-2 and cut off around 180-210(may be!). Results are expected anytime after 35-40 days of exam.

Hi sir, This is kalpana am a housewife and i also have a 1.5 yr kid. Its practically impossible for me to dedicate my time completely for studies. still am managing to study whenever i get time. i have applied for both group 2 and 4. Please advice me how to score marks and how to study each subject.

    • June 12, 2012 at 10:10 PM

      Hi kalpana,
G-2 preparation completely covers G-4 and more.Having small kid and doing exam preparation will be definitely straining on yourself.Studying concepts from school level science and social subjects(6 -10th class)and updating with the current affairs you can clear paper-1 of G-2/G-4.For remaining papers of G-2, if you are starting fresh it will be difficult to absorb lot of information in this short time.Better focus on G-4 this time and G-2 next year so you can get confidence and spare time for your studies. Each paper should be read according to the exam syllabus(G-2/G-4) by following the books mentioned in this post https://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/category/group-ii/

    Hi Dilip

I was searching for some english medium books for paper 2 and 3 for Group 2.I had Raghunadh rao for paper 2 but reading it is very tough. I need ur help in getting the crisp notes (EM) for pap 2 and 3. Please help me. Also where can i get any audio notes for the same. Also pls suggest me if ADITYA publication book for paper 2 and 3 are enough, if not how much percentage does it cover if i read the Aditya publication books.

Thanks a ton for your help as always..

      Hi Simal,
Reading Raghunadha rao first time definitely feel tough and boring. If you are in search of crisp notes you may get one from any coaching institute material, but they also contain same things as in raghunatha rao!.The problem lies in our lack of interest in remembering names/titles//dates/literary works as they are confusing and all sounds same. You have to organize history into sociocultural, religious, economic, political areas and apply this filter across all periods of ancient/medieval and modern india.Get hold of any coaching material you feel you are comfortable with to start off without losing interest.Once you understand the priorities and develop interest you will find reference books interesting.I don’t know much about vijetha/aditya as they are guides and they help you only for instant knowledge without historical significance(concept) of events.

1918 is correct one, sometimes you see these errors on a number of topics and you need to crosscheck wherever you see the variation.

And one more thing is i did my B.tech in ECE and though i had 2 or 3 courses relating to computers, are those enough pertaining to the eligibility criteria mention in the notification???

              • June 19, 2012 at 10:30 PM

                Hi Sowmya,
Read the topics of polity and economics in G-2 material at sakshi site or you can use RC reddy material.Even a single course is considered enough as per notification.

Sir i am a govt employee of Andhra Pradesh and i have a doubt. What if Central government declares Telangana and a seperate state forms, then what is the situation of the employees … do we have jobs or what is they will do at that point of time?

    • June 18, 2012 at 10:21 PM

      Hi Giri,
Everyone will have jobs and nothing will happen if a new state is formed. We already have zonal system in place classifying different districts and everyone is adjusted according to their preferences and job cadre. The new states may have different public service commissions and they will decide about future recruitment needs.

i don’t know any thing about Group exams before. After reading previous comments I came to know that there would be Group-1,2,3,4.

Is coaching necessary? if yes plz suggest me a good coaching institute. I decided to prepare from this year itself. As I have much time I could study well..

And plz also give the details about Fee in those institutes..

      Hi Anudeep,
You need to some serious self evaluation in understanding the various exam process of UPSC civil services(for becoming IAS/IPS/IFS and other central services depts like income tax,Railways etc), APPSC exams like G-1(for deputy collector, commercial tax officer, DSP, District registrar etc), G-2 (For Deputy Tahsildhar, Assistant commercial tax offcer etc) and G-4 (all clerical staff in various AP govt depts). You should seriously read the previous exam notifications to know more about those exams like exam pattern, syllabus, posts etc.

Before thinking about coaching, fees etc answer yourself about what you know about those exams, syllabus and what subjects you want coaching for and how much you can do self preparation.I am covering APPSC G-1 and G-2 exams only in this blog pointing aspirants to self study resources for G-1 and G-2.You can read the previous G-1,G-2 notifications on this blog homepage and the books required for preparation for G-1 prelims at https://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/group-i-prelims-syllabus/ and G-1 mains at https://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/category/group-i-mains/ and G-2 at https://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/category/group-ii/ .

You can also refer http://sakshieducation.com/%28S%28y4nxdq55g12yhd452gmggmjz%29%29/GroupII/Index.aspx for good information and material for Group and civil services
