Advice for APPSC Groups Aspirants

Those aspiring to appear for Group I or II services in AP need to keep some hard facts on top of their mind.

1) APPSC don’t conduct groups examinations every year like UPSC or other state commissions like Tamilnadu,Maharastra.

2) APPSC don’t have any examination timetable, which means you never know when they announce notification, announce exam dates after receiving applications, when they announce results. The more stages your exam got (like Group I) the more uncertainty.

3) Most of the APPSC notifications are announced & conducted according to wishes of the government in power. This means the government may not conduct exams for 3 or 4 years and then announce a notification with large number of posts at once with age exemptions.

4) As there is no exam timetable for APPSC the gap between exam notification and conduct of examination varies from minimum 1 year(for technical posts) to 3 years or more(for popular ones like group I,II).

5)The lack of exam timetable on part of APPSC is making the students desperate to appear for Groups exams when they announce the dates and also making controversial attempts by students asking for more posts, age exemptions, reservation issues which in turn is making the already delayed process delaying further.

So those who already doing job or those who are looking for job continue with your plans and don’t wait for Groups exams.Just apply for these exams when APPSC announced notifications and continue with your job, start preparation for the exam when they announce the dates.Don’t ever quit your current job for preparation of Group I or II!!

    Hi Dilip,
I would like to know when is the Group II notification for 2011. after notification what is the time frame to apply it?

    • July 5, 2011 at 8:54 PM

      Hi swathi,
Group II notification is not issued every year!,we hope the govt issue one in 2012 once the exam for the current one issued in 2008 finishes on oct 15 2011. Usually you will have one month time to apply and the last date will be mentioned in notification.Keep checking http://www.apspc.gov.in for notifications.

    Hi Dilip,

Ur advice on preparation for group 2 is v useful.

At the time of group 2 application, due to lack of awareness I have given wrong preference of posts. Now that additional 120 posts – develpment officer- textiles have been added, will APPSC ask the candidate to give preference of posts again at the time of interview???

    thanx in advance
    Sagarika

    August 13, 2011 at 2:44 AM

Is there anyway that I can change my preference of group 2 posts at a later point – at interview stage??

im worried and im glad i found ur forum

    • August 13, 2011 at 10:29 AM

      Hi Sagarika,

This is what APPSC says regarding job preferences and zones in the G-II notification under “Procedure of Selection”

” While the Commission calls for preference of candidates in respect of Posts, Zones etc., in
the Application Form, it is hereby clarified that the said preferences are only indicative for being
considered to the extent possible but not binding or limiting the Commission’s powers enjoyed under
Article 315 and 320 of the Constitution of India. Therefore, the Commission has the power to
assigning a successful candidate to any of the notified posts for which he is considered by them to
be qualified and eligible, subject to fulfilling the selection criterion. Mere claim of preference for
any Zone for allotment against vacancy does not confer a right to selection for that Zone in
particular or any Zone in general.”

What it means is preferences are only indicative in nature and you can claim any posts you wish, provided you are in merit order and have eligible qualifications & zonal reservations.Regarding the new development officers posts perhaps they might ask you for a preference only for that post at time of interview. So “Don’t worry” about your lack of knowledge as everyone is in same boat and commission takes care of that.

    August 13, 2011 at 11:18 AM

    Hi Dilip,

Does this mean that I can change the order of preference for group 2 posts before allotment? I was told that the preferences given at the time of application are final and so I became anxious.

I qualified for group 1 mains and am goin to give group2 exams also. Im confident about getting thru group 2 and not group 1.

I had given second preference to Extension Officer PR&RD because it was in higher scale but i dont want to apply for this job now.

Anyway, thanx a lot for ur quick response.

    Regards
    Sagarika

    • August 14, 2011 at 3:41 PM

      Hi sagarika,
Yes according to commission you can change if are in merit order.

    October 26, 2011 at 12:15 AM

    Hi dilip,
Minimum how much time gap will be there between notification and exam date?
I am working and want to prepare for groups. Please tell me ths study plan.During weekdays i can prepare only 2 hours per day as my office is very far.Travelling itself takes 4 hours. Will i be able to complete the syllabus on 6 months if i prep 2 hours a day and whole day in weekends ie. saturday and sundays?

    • October 26, 2011 at 1:39 PM

      Hi pavani,
The usual gap will be 4 months but APPSC is giving more time than that, sometime going up to an year. You can safely presume a gap of 6 months.Regarding preparation, if you follow your mentioned schedule you can definitely finish off in 6 months. But you must make sure to collect all the required material before starting preparation.Since you want to prepare for groups, better start now rather than waiting for notification as it will come sooner or later.

      Hi sunitha,
Preparation for G-1/G-2 varies in particular for the mains.Syllabus of G-1 is a bit more than G-2. we don’t know what the exact syllabus of G-2 mains in the new pattern, but expected to be more or less as the existing one. Next notifications for G-1/G-2 are expected in 2012.

    • December 21, 2011 at 9:58 PM

    December 26, 2011 at 12:35 PM

    sir,
what about minorties reservation implementation in APPSC recruitments. i mean when they consider reservation. AP govt when they give Gazette notification

    • December 26, 2011 at 8:04 PM

      Hi Azam,
Reservations for minorities is present in notification under BC-E, check those backward classes in Muslims on Page 25 in G-I notification.

  24. azam
    December 27, 2011 at 9:57 AM

    sir,
under BC_E, reservation is provided to socially backward muslims and in that reservation not applicable to Pathans, sayyads etc.,

as per recent GOI Gazzette notificattion irrespective of muslim sub castes reservation given 4.5% for minorities that means even Pathans, sayyads etc., also eligible for reservation. so, when govt of AP releasing gazzette notification to implement the same in recruitments.

    • December 27, 2011 at 11:51 AM

      Hi Azam,
GOI gazette notification is the first step in the muslim reservation bill. The bill need to be discussed and passed in both houses and signed by president before it can become a law.Until then it is only a bill but not a law.Every bill need to go through these process before it can become law.Only laws are implemented by APPSC or any authority. At present stage there is no reservation for muslims other than those in BC-E and it will remain so, even if bill became law as the APPSC already issued notification. If the bill becomes law, that reservation is applicable only from future notifications and remember APPSC posts are state cadre and we don’t know whether the proposal covers both central and state cadres.

Since you got Pharmacology in Homoeopathy i believe you can apply, in case you are not eligible your application is put under rejection list after the deadline of receiving applications. It is also a good idea to call APPSC helpdesk number on APPSC homepage to clarify in this regard.

    Hi Dilip,

I want to attempt Group2 Exam im having a very low level of Knowledge on syallbus concerned, i would like to know that how i can improve my knowlwdge in this short period of time.wat are the tips ??? pls help me!!

    Thanks

    • March 6, 2012 at 9:42 PM

      Hi Dipika,
You want a shortcut to improve your knowledge, then first believe in yourself!. You need to understand what areas you need to improve and decide what you can do to improve your knowledge.Only through repetitive revision of syllabus you can remember anything.Regarding improvement in short period of time, why are you so desperate? You tend to make more mistakes when you are in a hurry, so just read whatever you can and attend the exam with confidence.Rather than knowledge it is the confidence that helps you to make more effort to improve your knowledge.

I assume you are asking for G-2 coaching, in which case you need to ask at coaching centres as the last date varies according to the number of candidates in each batch.

  35. November 2, 2012 at 6:48 PM

    Hi Dilip,
    Thanks for your detailed answers.

    Here is my question,
I got ADO post in zone 4, but if I want to change the post or zone whom do I contact.

If I don’t like ADO, can I opt for a non-executive post, like ASO?

    Thanks

    • November 5, 2012 at 11:13 PM

      Hi sreenu,
You can’t change now as you already filled up your options during interview. If you didn’t like ADO you shouldn’t have checked it as your option, then you will get chance for non exec ASO.There will be no counselling session for job/zone preferences and you have to take whatever is offered based on your merit and options mentioned. Try to enquire by going to any coaching centre if there is any procedure to change your choice now.
