1.General Science

This is studied under Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Science & Technology


Force & pressure,Friction,gravitation,solar system,mechanics(newton laws, centripetal,centrifugal forces,projectiles,angle of banking,potential & kinetic energy),liquids(capillarity,surface tension, viscosity),Sound,Heat,light,Electricity, Magnetism,satellites, modern physics (atomic energy, radio activity,cosmic, x rays, visible spectrum),Nuclear,space technology in India(latest happening in these areas)


Cell structure,living organisms classification,life processes of plants and animals (nutrition,digestion, respiration, circulatory system,blood, excretion), control &coordination(nervous system, eyes,ears),endocrine system & reproduction,digestive enzymes,hormones,vitamins,infectious diseases,natural resources management(air, water, soil pollution,wetlands, forestry, wildlife)applications of biology(plant breeding, animal breeding, pesticides, bio fertilisers, biotechnology,stem cells),Institutions of National importance.


Physical & chemical changes,Atoms &molecules,Acids,bases & salts,metals &non metals, fibers, periodic table classification,carbon compounds(hydrocarbons, polymers), bio molecules (carbohydrates,proteins,fats),nuclear fission, nuclear fusion,breeder reactors, metallurgy.

Science & Technology

Submarines, ISRO launches,DRDO tests,Antarctic/Arctic expeditions,Super computers,Science congress

All the above topics are the areas one need to look into but the scope of questions in exam may or may not be limited to above topics.

Suggested Reading:

NCERT Text books : class 6 to 10 (Science).There are 3 to 4 books for every class,so please download all the books.
Science section in India Year Book latest.
AP State Syllabus: class 6 to 10 (These books are also good ,you can use them in place of NCERT books)

General Studies Manual by Tata McgrawHill (For those who want all material in a single book)

2.Indian Geography

Physical features of India ,landforms & their evolution,drainage basins,climate,soils,minerals,natural vegetation and wild life,population(growth,density,migration,sex ratio, occupation structure),economic activity in agriculture,industry,tourism,trade,transportation,services.

Suggested Reading:

NCERT Text books :Class 6 to 10 (Social Science) and Class 11 and 12 (Geography)
Good School Atlas:Please make sure AP information is mentioned in it.
AP State Syllabus: class 6 to 10 Social sciences (These books are good ,refer them for AP relevant content in geography and economics)

3.History of India and Indian National Movement

History of India includes history especially cultural (arts, language & literature,architecture) from ancient,medieval and up to 1857 revolt. Indian national movement includes the personalities who shaped social reforms and freedom movement

Suggested Reading:

NCERT Text books           :Social Sciences (class 6 to 10) and History(11 and 12th class) 
Ancient India , Medieval India (NCERT reference books for class 11 and 12): R.S. Sharma (you need to buy in bookshop)
Modern India                       : Bipin Chandra

4.Mental Ability
This part will test the candidate ability in analytical and reasoning abilities. This includes, analogies, algebra, synonyms & antonyms,series,inferences etc.

Suggested Reading:
Quicker maths by M Tyra ( The questions in exam are of basic nature, entire content of book may not be relevant)

5.Current events of national and International importance

BRICS,World economic Forum, SAARC, G20,climate summits, WTO ministerial meets, Free trade with Europe,ASEAN and others,Nuclear Suppliers group(NSG),APEC, OPEC, EU etc. Countries visited by president,vice president and PM and treaties signed in the last one year, Energy(nuclear, oil&gas) cooperation with other countries

Domestic & international Institutions (political, economic, judicial)

UN,UNESCO,World bank,WTO,International Court of Justice,Heads of (Army, navy, airforce,ISRO,DRDO,Atomic energy commission,UPSC, Supreme court,SC,ST,BC,Women,human rights,law commissions, US ambassadors to India/from India to US & china)

Recent events in the last one to one and half-year like(Japanese earthquake,laden death, Lokpal bill,Telangana struggle,Kashmir situation, wikileaks etc)

Cricket,tennis grand slam order & recent winners, commonwealth,FIFA games, Mascots, medals tally,Asian games, Olympics,chess,badminton,hockey,kabbadi,F1 tournaments etc

Padmabhushan, jnanapith awards,Man Booker, Noble (all six),Alternate Nobel awards,Oscar awards winners(Indian entries 2010), Abel prize, Raman magsaysay, Indira Gandhi peace, Nehru awards,Cannes film festival, children film festivals etc.

      The content uploaded is meant for Group II general studies only,for Group I one need to study polity and economy as well.

    Hai Dilip, let me first thanks for the service you are providing. Iam preparing for GROUP2 and my background is biology. Can you suggest books for AP and INDIAN economy (PAPER III ).
    Can you give the area from where the maximum question will come ( paper iii)

      The books required for paper III AP and Indian economy are mentioned in this blog under “How to prepare for Group II exam”.Please go through it ,and you will cover 100% of syllabus from those books and also update yourself with the current statistics from socio economic surveys.

    my name is kiran presently iam working in mumbai i am interested in group-I & II. Your suggestions i read through this site it is very useful. Now i am staying in mumbai to study the material of school level books it is not possible to get all books here can u suggest me which books should i read which are easily available in mumbai or if u can please where group books will be available in mumbai and especially for school books where can i get all data at the same position. please give the correct information for this

      Hi Kiran,
      For school books you can read NCERT books online available from ncert.nic.in or from http://ncertbooks.prashanthellina.com/ .If anytime you are in Hyd get AP state syllabus 8,9,10 science and social textbooks to read the summary at the end of every chapter.

      70% of G-II aspirants who got jobs are of first attempt only!

    zone3 contains only 3 dist,but ur said that zone3 tends very compettive,why dis much of comptive from zone3 can u please?.another thing i belongs to zone3 wiht sc-b caste so could u except how much marks i have to get?.pls sir give the rply.

      Hi Bujji,
      Zone 3 is competitive because there are few posts in that zone and usually many people get good marks in that zone.As you are SC you might had a chance if you get 20-30 marks less than OC.As G-II is competitive exam the more marks you get, more chances you have for job.

      Go to notification and see the annexure to see the classification of posts under each reserved category.

    Is RC REDDY GS material is enough to prepare for ASO ??????

      Hi Srikanth,
      RC reddy material is good for GS, but you need to follow current affairs separately.No one can say scoring so many marks can get the job, the competition is relative and depends on difficult level of exam.

    iam prudvi from chittor and i got 205 marks groupIV 2012 through the sakshi education key,iam belongs to sc .what are possibilities to get job

      205 seems to be low score for SC as well…may not be possible.

      You can get all those books in any bookshop surrounding coaching centres in hyderabad like vikas book shop in ashoknagar, hyd near RC Reddy study circle.Try if you can find them online on flipkart.com
