    hi dilip,

    how are you?
i already applied for group 1 online and challan was entered and photo also submitted and completed the procedure of online application. i want to know whether i have to download this application and attaching the required documents, i have to submit it manually to appsc office by post?

    • December 14, 2011 at 4:21 PM

      Hi sunitha,
Follow the procedure mentioned in the notification.Once the challan is generated from “Get challan” link pay the fees in SBI, come back next day and fill the online application by clicking “Submit Application”with the journal number and upload the photo. That’s it.What documents you want to attach with downloaded application?? Everything is online. There is nothing to send by post to appsc.Appsc didn’t ask any documents to submit now.If you are in doubt read the “Sample user Guide”.

    Hi Dilip,

This is Murali vadlamudi, currently working in a IT company in bangalore and i would like write Group 1 exams and was silent follower for this link.
I have purchased few books from NCERT university here in bangalore and i have few questions on preparation.

my immediate target is to qualify the prelims and subsequently prepare for mains as i am not able to dedicate more time on this itself as i am working
    I have bought below books

    Social sciences – 6th – 10th
    Geography and history – 11th and 12th
India econamy – Dutt and sundaram
    Indian polity by Laxmikanth
and few disaster mgt books downloaded from CBSE.

If i prepare data interpretation along with above would be sufficient to cover all the aspects in Prelims ??
I could see botony and chemistry and they are not covered in social sciences..do i need to get science text seperately ..is social sciences are relavant for Group..

Please guide me.. thanks in advance

    • January 29, 2012 at 11:16 AM

      Hi Murali,
You collected all the essentials and I would add a few for them. For Science AP state syllabus 9th and 10th class is very good. For Economics cover NCERT books and Update yourself with current affairs(25 to 30 marks in exam) from the newspapers.A detailed break up of reading of each topic is mentioned in this post https://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/group-i-prelims-syllabus/

hi sir..i got selected to group 2 interview i might have got 250-255 under sc reservation……….now i got a doubt during filling application i kept “yes” for excise post,i have height and weight but i have sight [eye}making me ineligible to that post…did they called me on that eligibility criteria or reservation, will i be rejected at certification verification? iam unable to concentrate on interview plz let me know how.selection takes place…………urgently

    • February 28, 2012 at 10:38 PM

      Hi Sandhya,
Don’t worry if you haven’t got eye sight for Excise post, you are eligible for other posts. You don’t know how many SC students are there before you? then how you are saying that you are called for Excise post.If not excise one you are eligible for other posts may be DT/ACTO/Municipal commissioner/extension officer. With 250-255 it seems that you got interview call based on reservation and you have good chance of getting job if you do well in interview.Everyone of us had got both necessary and unnecessary fears by birth and it is us humans can only overcome unnecessary fears with knowledge.Don’t let the unnecessary fears take over you and be yourself when it is time to act.Prepare well for the interview and job is yours.

hi sir i want to know one thing wat is creamy layer and i applied for g2 i maked cramy layr as NO…it means income of both father n mother or only father….pls tel me sir

    • May 27, 2012 at 7:19 PM

      Hi Bhagi,
Creamy layer is applicable to BC candidates only.Income of Both Father and Mother will be considered to identify creamy layer candidates.

Can you please analyse the Question Paper and let us all know the probable cut off marks as 1,63,265 candidates appeared for the exam … close to 60% i guess?

    • May 27, 2012 at 11:20 PM

      Hi Sandeep,
My guess for cut off is around 90 to 95 and might be completely wrong as well.Out of “1,63,265” candidates the real serious ones are hardly 35,000 and includes a substantial number of G-2 aspirants who attempt G-1 prelims to test their knowledge but never attempt mains!.You can get more than ‘60%’ guess if a reasonable number of serious aspirants vote on G-1 cut off marks poll on this blog homepage like they did for last G-2 cut off marks poll.

  12. kranthi
    May 27, 2012 at 11:37 PM

isnt 90 a very high cut off …. was the paper easy today ….

    • May 28, 2012 at 11:09 AM

      Hi Kranti,
The paper was easy and any serious candidate can score around 115 and non serious candidate can score around 85-90. So i assume the cutoff is at lower range and hence around 90.I may be completely wrong as well but if we see a cut off lower than 90 then we can safely assume a lot of non serious candidates are selected for G-mains exam.

    • June 19, 2012 at 10:28 PM

      Hi Bhagi,
You don’t have any problem to write the exam ,but you are not eligible for BC reservation and considered as OC.You have to change it during the time of certificate verification if you got selected.

    Hi Dilip,
In the creamy layer concept, the notificaion states that parents income should be less than 4 lacs, 1) Is the candidates income also considered if the candidate is employed?

    • June 28, 2012 at 9:14 AM

      Hi Madhavi,
      Candidate income is NOT considered.

    hi dilip
(1)can v use black ball point pen 2 write group1 mains..nd can v use any red pen to write few important points??
(2)sud our answers b more in paragraphs or points??
    (3)each essay carries 50 marks..so if v plan accordingly alloting 1 hr for 1 esaay thn v can write around 600 words..around 3-3.5 sheets..is tht enuf??
(4)can u plz throw some light on few important issues in recent times in AP for section 3 of essay paper..
im a first timer so my ideas r really bleak..thnks a lot..

    • August 28, 2012 at 12:52 PM

      Hi Vinu,
You can use black/blue pen for writing exam.Don’t write in red ink, but you can sketch pens to underline any important points/headings/tables.presenting answer in paragraph/points depends on how the question asked? If asked to discuss/describe/analyse/critical evaluation you need to write in paragraphs whereas List/compare/differences should be written in points.Make sure you allocate 50 minutes of time for each essay with at least 600 words and below 800 words.

Section 3 in essay focus on AP aspects and examiners are interested in panchayat raj institutions performance in AP.You may also focus on poor literacy levels(despite low poverty in AP), power crisis, rapid increase of diseases(Diabetes,Hypertension, cancer in AP)and others impacting AP economy.

    August 30, 2012 at 1:08 PM

    can u plz reply me..

    • September 8, 2012 at 9:33 PM

      Hi laxmi,
Getting any govt job nowadays is always competitive and so many who appear for these are ordinary students only.Don’t expect everything is taught in coaching institute and should evaluate what you want from coaching. You must do some homework like reading the syllabus, going through previous papers to understand the depth and your ability to learn and compete in that exam.If you have the option of getting into software go into it and get the job and you can prepare for G-1/G-2 while doing your job.Your fear of “insult” seems to be more than your “greed” of success and this makes you desperate for job.Success comes only for prepared rather than desperate people as we tend to make mistakes when we don’t have alternate plans.Quitting is the easiest of everything and serves no purpose.

So many appear groups while doing jobs (age limit is 34) as they have financial and social commitments. No one insult you for anything as long as you don’t ask anything from them!.Being independent with any job helps you to clear all your fears and plan your career.

Good site to refer for G-1/G-2 and other exams is http://sakshieducation.com/%28S%28534mbq55nolmts45atpgozyp%29%29/GroupII/Index.aspx

hi dilip i have been hearing tht ta time alloted fr grp1 mains is nt sufficient to attempt all ta 15questions….is tht true?wat do u feel can b ta best number of questions tht one can write in ta stipulated time??
im nt a local of AP so i hv no idea wheather ta non-locals have made it in ta past..do u hv any idea abt ta sucess stories of non-locals??ya i knw ta non-locals r nt eligible for all ta posts bcoz of zonal reseravations..so ta chances r very bleak..

    • September 8, 2012 at 9:39 PM

      Hi Vinu,
If you mange time properly you can answer all questions but must write 13-14 confidently.Non-locals do made it in G-1 and there are few from tamilnadu and karnataka who made it in state wide category.

    Hi Dilip,

First of all, your blog has provided all useful information with regard to Groups. I would like to appreciate you for taking time in replying back to various questions asked over here.

Please confirm me that there won’t be any negative marks for the wrong answers in Group 1.

I know for UPSC Civils Prelims negative marking is about 1/3. As APPSC Group 1 pattern is inlined with UPSC Civils, I just wanted your confirmation on this.

    Thanks In Advance,

    • September 8, 2012 at 8:39 PM

      Hi nageswar,
There is NO negative marking in G-1 prelims as of now.If changed in future you can see in notification as well as in exam booklet instructions.

Sir what is ur opinion on the errors in the prelims key of APPSC?
Should’nt the APPSC take note of the mistakes and revaluate the OMR SHEETS and announce the results with new key and cutoff.
Or leave the aspirants to their fate though they opted the right answers! What makes APPSC be stoic n stubborn towards the G1 aspirants’ preparation who burn midnight oil, getting ready for that Bigday!, and answer the correct option but inturn get rewarded as wrong!
In G1 prelims with every single mark adding to ur score, but in the key with errors in opting the right answer in more than 5 questions would’nt matter for APPSC?

    • September 13, 2012 at 9:55 PM

      Hi vinu,
This is the first time APPSC explicitly mentioned not to use sketches and use only blue/black point pens only. You must follow accordingly for writing mains.

    Hi Dilip,

Please let me know how to prepare for group 1 interview. I got selected in mains.

    Thank you

    • January 17, 2013 at 12:05 AM

      Hi manuja,
You are now one step closer to your goal and be focused. You need confidence to crack any interview and you get it only if you strongly believe in your abilities/skills.You can execute your belief only if you lack fear/doubt and you lack fear/doubt only if you live in the present moment, NOW rather than thinking about your past experiences about interviews or wishing about consequences in future.

You need to train your mind to focus and act only the interview moment without thinking about your past interview experiences.Utilise this time to attend mock interviews conducted at R.C Reddy or lakshya or Brain tree to refine your interviewing skills.A brief note on sakshi education is here http://www.sakshieducation.com/%28S%28q3lffyvnwsxpphm2yfyaxdyo%29%29/GroupII/GroupIIStory.aspx?nid=41535 .

      Hi Sravani,
Honestly i don’t have any information about when G-1/G-2 will be conducted in any state but i am expecting it a bit early in Telangana than in AP.As new govts are formed in both states they take time in issuing these notifications and they are the least priority at the moment in both states.
