Group II Study plan

Following is a basic study plan for Group II aspirants

The total duration of syllabus completion and revision is 5 months

Stage 1 :First reading   => 3 months (For entire reading of syllabus and preparing important notes)

Stage 2 :Revision one   => 1 month  (For revising the above prepared notes)

Stage 3 :Revision two    => 15 days

Stage 4 :Revision three => 8 days

Stage 5 :Revision four    => 4 days

Depending on your present situation you need to decide from which stage to start with. If you starting from scratch start from Stage 1, if you had finished your First reading and ready with your notes then start from stage 2 and do the revision. The key to success is the number of times you revise your notes so that it will stick into your mind for a long time as the exam date approaches. If you haven’t prepared or gathered notes it will be difficult for you to revise many times as the time for revision decreases in every stage.

Regular study should not be less than 6 to 8 hours per day during Stage 1 as you need cover entire syllabus. Dedicate 1 to 2 hours of your daily time for current affairs aligning with the exam syllabus over and above the regular study time as current affairs orientation is increasing in every group services exam.

Topics to be covered  under Group II syllabus  in

Paper I (General Studies)

    • June 22, 2011 at 7:26 PM

      Hi kumar,
      Group 1 prelims exam is similar to Group 2 paper 1 exam with additional topics from economy and polity.Group 1 mains is altogether a different approach towards exam.Group 1 mains is a test on one’s clarity of thought process and presentation of the thoughts in a simple manner, because the audience who are evaluating your mains answers are existing officials/professors..Mains exam requires an emphasis on concept in addition to facts.I will present the study plan for Group 1 soon.

      Dilip

    Hi Dilip,
    Thanks for this informative blog…I want to clarify about the pay structure for group 2. Appsc has written somewhere like 7000 as pay scale in 2008. Now that all govt employees are receiving hike in their pay due to recent increase of salary…Could u please tell me how much salary we may get in hand including allowances for group 2 employees? I got offer in FCI grade 3 post where i will be joining next month. I want to write group 2 also but I want to clarify about pay as this is state govt job while FCI is central govt one.

    Awaiting your reply.

    Warm Regards,

    M S Nath.

    • August 22, 2011 at 11:50 AM

      Hi mani,
      The pay structure of group 2 will be in according to the scales mentioned against each post in the notification. They do vary for executive and non executive cadre and also within cadre. There is no common scale for all group 2 posts.Wherever revisions of payscale is there they will be implemented accordingly across cadres. Please don’t compare posts only on payscale as all of them are more or less same, lets say around 20K,prestige and your chance to contribute to society counts in group II services.

    Hi Mr.Dilip. I did my MCA.My age is 25 now,i want to write group 2 exam(notification is yet to come…as u know)….actually i dont have any basic idea about how to start the preparation as i am a new for groups preparation. And also i dont have any knowledge about the exams and how to prepare. I got the useful information in your website which is very useful. So i want to know that whats your advise for the new aspirants to achieve group 2 services., In which style i have to prepare. Is it compulsory to go for coaching institute. and when will be the next group 2 exams(because group 1 main exam in oct).

    Thanks,
    Murali.

    • December 1, 2011 at 10:27 PM

      Hi Murali,
      I advise you to read through the syllabus of G-II from the notification https://dilipvaka.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/notification-g-ii.pdf to get an idea of what you need to study.Since G-II is only objective exam you can prepare on your own according to syllabus. If you got time, enough money and would like to prepare with discussions you can opt for coaching.Usually coaching in HYD costs about 15-20K for 3 months with all expenses. You can buy the coaching material photo stat copies from the bookshops around RC REDDY Study circle, Ashoknagar, Hyderabad and others which costs not more than 750 Rs (All 3 papers).Current affairs you need to prepare on your own, no coaching institute feeds you.Read the syllabus thoroughly before buying photostat material to ensure every topic is covered. You can prepare on your own by referring the books mentioned in https://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2011/09/09/how-to-prepare-for-group-ii%C2%A0exam/.Use the coaching material to ensure you are in right direction.

      New G-II notification is expected in JAN 2012 or later, but not sure about that.Remember one thing, use the knowledge you gained in groups preparation by applying to other jobs like Bank PO’s,Staff Selection commission or anything you wish.

    sir i am doing job as aste irsse ,group a officer .is it good job as compare to group1 servises appsc plzz say sir

    • January 8, 2012 at 4:07 PM

      Hi Swathi,
      You are doing a wonderful job in Indian railway signal engineer service.Group 1 is state cadre job which means you will be posted anywhere in AP and most of the jobs in it are connected to the public and political leaders which ultimately makes them highly stressful and respected in terms of prestige in society. The job you are currently doing doesn’t expose you much to public and is quite stable in stress and gives a lot of time for your personal life.Every job has its own pros and cons and your current job is as good as G-1 job but without political pressures and stress!

    • May 27, 2012 at 7:31 PM

      Hi Laxmi,
      You may not find any institute offering coaching for G-2 at this stage for the upcoming G-2 exam on july 15.You can attend with zero knowledge, but it would be great if you understand about the process from this blog and books required to read before taking up any coaching. If you got zero knowledge don’t go for any coaching at this stage better try to attempt next year.

    Hi,sir.Defentely I will try for next year but want to start preparing like taking coaching from a institue which will start may after july15.Is it a gud idea i.e.,with out knoweing wen d xam will b held again taking coaching from now.or is it a gud idea tat i will hav enough time to take a gud preparation? Will d centers start givnig coaching after d exam?CAN U PLZ SUGGEST ANY GUD COACHING CENTER FOR EM FRO G2…..PLZ SIR

    • May 27, 2012 at 11:04 PM

      Hi Laxmi,
      Coaching institutes start batches only when the APPSC signals its intent for new G-2 notification and before that they won’t start any because of lack of students. You should initially read the syllabus thoroughly and gather the coaching institutes notes available in bookshops like RC reddy study circle to decide whether you really need coaching or not.English medium coaching is available only whenever there are enough students for the batch in any institute.

      Please take your own time to read the school level books and those mentioned in this post https://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/how-to-prepare-for-group-ii%C2%A0exam/ to understand what you really need from coaching. You can also refer this site http://sakshieducation.com/%28S%28csleuk45ikrwg5a1geazyiyp%29%29/GroupII/Index.aspx and look for Previous papers and G-II TM material on left down side bar.

    Sir, for current affairs can we read upkar’s Khanna And Verma for grup-2?

    • May 28, 2012 at 11:24 AM

      HI lakshmi,
      Prepare current affairs through any of following approach

      1) Buy Vivek(RC Reddy publication)/Vijetha competition fortnightly and cover the current affairs. Both are in TM.
      2) Read Sakshi newspaper http://epaper.sakshi.com Bhavitha(Thursday edition)or everyday “Vidya” in district edition for summary of weekly current affairs.
      3) Follow http://www.sakshieducation.com/%28S%28hyw3uj45fvhveb45muxcpo55%29%29/GroupII/Index.aspx for good archive of current affairs.

      There is no difference whether you prepare in TM/EM, but read current affairs daily otherwise they won’t stick in your mind.
      Upkar’s books and others are unnecessary for G-1/G-2 level.

    Sir the links which you gave are seriously very useful to each and everyone but i guess that material is very lengthy … i mean to say it will take time for us to study at this peak of time, so as you have mentioned earlier can we rely on the books which are available near the RC Reddy coaching institute? and the books which are useful for group 2 will the same be useful for group 1 as well?

      Can you please suggest me a book for the APFC as well which includes all the topics in one single book or a couple

      • June 10, 2012 at 12:11 AM

        Hi Richards,
        You can use the same books of G-2 for G-1 as well, but you need to prepare for a descriptive approach for G-1.I am not aware any single book for APFC, you can use the G-1 prelims material and the Syllabus for APFC was outlined in brief and we have to refer every reliable source to prepare.

        Indian Culture, Heritage and Freedom Movements —Indian History topics covered in Ancient, medieval & Modern India books

        Accountancy and Auditing —You have this subjects in MBA and need a conceptual understanding of accounting standards,Income/balance sheet/cash flow statement and auditing risks.
        Industrial Relations &Labour Laws —You will have these topics in MBA under HR subjects covering various industrial acts(like ESI act, compensation act, maternity act etc), trade unions/industrial disputes. You can also read topics like this http://planningcommission.nic.in/aboutus/committee/wrkgrp11/wg11_rplabr.pdf to get the latest happening in those areas.
