You can see the complete list of positions, syllabus and reservation from the notification here.

Category wise Exec/Non exec positions as mentioned in the notification are here

What should your rank be in order of merit to get a group II executive position?

OC-Men => Your rank must be less than equal to 153 to get a guaranteed executive position

OC-Women => Your rank must be less than equal to (153+82=235) 235 to get a guaranteed executive position

For those above 30 years age, you need to remove Excise SI posts

OC-Men => Your rank must be less than equal to (153-72=81) 81 to get a guaranteed executive position but possible to get one up to 153 depending on how many before you opted for Excise S.I position

Here i listed only for OC candidates as the rank for them is compulsory to get an executive position, else they won’t get it. For other categories the order of merit(rank) varies depending on how many from their category got positions in OC-General list , the more they get from OC-General list the farther their rank can be to obtain a group II exec/non exec position. The above rank is for guaranteed position only but not for your required post as it varies according to preferences of those before you.

      Hi Shiva,
All the information is available in this post http://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2011/09/09/how-to-prepare-for-group-ii%C2%A0exam/ and http://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/group-ii-study-plan/

You need to read the latest data which means 2010-2011 and 2011-12 wherever available from official sources like AP Socio economic survey and indian economic survey.Economic surveys are released just before budget only, the reports are also available at the above mentioned links.HDI reports are not read entirely, but need to study key points like ranking, criteria of evaluation and comparision across countries.Simple basics must be studied from school level text books and should cover the topics mentioned in this post http://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/group-i-prelims-syllabus/ .If you are not sure about managing the quantity of information, buy some coaching material available from the bookshops in Hyd around coaching centres. This material will guide and supplement your preparation and doesn’t cost more than 1000/ for all 3 papers.

    Hello Sir,

For applying for group 2 which certificates are needed?
I have already seen appsc website. but i am confused .
Please give the details of certificates that are necessary to be attested for applying
    to group 2 exams.
I am a BC candidate and I have OBC certificate.
What is study certificate ( I dont have study certiifcate)
We are living in a rented house , we don’t have residence certificate also.

    • January 31, 2012 at 8:13 PM

      Hi Shiva,
Please read the G-II notification with peace of mind!.You just need to apply through APPSC website when they start accepting G-II applications.Did they ever mentioned in the notification that you need some certificates to apply? NO, you don’t need any certificates to apply.Your documents are verified only during interview.

Regarding your queries on Year book, had you seen the difference between India Year book 2010/2011 and 2012? Except some modifications towards current events at the end of book almost everything is same.Regarding AP economy material is same whichever medium it is in, read according to your availability.Mishra and Puri is also very good for Indian economy.

or should i read them simultaneously….

I have read your advice already on the post. but my problem is different. I am bit poor in basics.

    Hope you understand my problem

    Awaiting for reply.

      Hi Shiva,
You must study basics from school text books from 6 to 10 NCERT/State syllabus.Without them it would be really difficult to understand degree level topics. How much time it takes depends on your capacity to absorb new information. Some takes 3 months others 6 months but it wont be difficult as all of us studied those subjects in school!

  5. February 7, 2012 at 9:40 AM

I don’t know where to start from

  6. February 7, 2012 at 11:10 PM

    Thank you very much sir…….

  7. February 9, 2012 at 6:56 PM

    Hello Sir,
I am following your blog from a very long.
Thank your for your postings and advices to the aspirants.

Recently i have discussion with seniors who have already wrote previous group 2 exams, for taking their advices.
They are telling that only seniors will crack all the posts in the upcoming group 2 exams , because they have been preparing for the past 2- 3 years.

They also told that within this six months even joining in coaching cannot get the job.

After listening to their advices i felt really nervous. I feel that there is a genuine point in what thery speak.

Is it possible to get a job just by self preparation. I am vry poor at basics also. I have to start from the beginning.

    Waiting for the reply sir,
    Thanks in advance.

    • February 10, 2012 at 7:20 PM

      Hi Shiva,
If preparing for 2-3 years guarantees job, then everyone should get the job!.It is not about how much time but how focused you are in preparation. So many people got jobs through self prep.If you feel that you are very poor at basics also you need to work hard than others to catch up to their level.Start preparing now, if you feel you can’t handle on your own form a group with your friends or join a coaching institution to develop confidence.Only a confident and focused prep with self belief can help you to get the job.

why only bc candidates got group1 post who wrote in english and even two three oc candidates are not in the list why ? is it oc candidates not fared the exam well are they picked by appsc? suspecious selection list froom group1? any cate based politic going around appsc?

    • March 10, 2012 at 11:15 PM

      Hi Prasad,
BC candidates today are very competitive and are able to get seats in OC list sometimes more than OC students. It is unfair on our part to assume any politics going inside as the mains papers evaluators don’t even know the name of candidates.Only during interview the board can see your name, but don’t know your mains marks. You can suspect if any one got more marks in interview than others, but even that scope was also reduced by following a narrow band of interview marks.Don’t just carried away by these conspiracy theories, as of now APPSC had provided enough confidence among candidates that it rewards merit only.

    hi sir,
As i cant go for coaching ,i have downloaded material for group 2 from sakshieducation.com..can u pls tell me, is it sufficient to get through the exam

    • April 21, 2012 at 7:50 PM

      Hi Ajju,
Sakshi education material is only an overview, it is not enough to get the confidence for exam. You need to go through the school level books to get the concepts and supplement your preparation with the books mentioned in the post http://dilipvaka.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/how-to-prepare-for-group-ii%C2%A0exam/. Also buy some G-2 material like RC reddy coaching centre, ashoknagar Hyd from bookshops surrounding institute to get the entire coverage of syllabus.

    Hello,

I am a software guy, its been almost 9 years i am working. I have a zeal of cracking Group 2 exam. But unfortunately i could’t realize it because of time crunch of my present job and only 2 months are left now for preparation. DO you really think one can crack Group 2 by preparing for just 2 months (5 hours of effort per day). And one more thing as this year would be my first and last attempt according to my age. I would like to give a try. Can you please share your thoughts on the same.

    Thanks,
    Udai

    • April 30, 2012 at 11:40 PM

      Hi Udai,
There is no guarantee that one will get job if they study 2 years and no rule either that you won’t get job if you study 2 months!.It all depends on your ability to assimilate new information in a short span of time and develop the confidence to crack exam. You are saying it as your final chance so what do you lose if you make an attempt and study more time during weekends. At the worst you might not make it and have satisfaction of learning something new which you never bothered till now.

Reality is lot of people who make it to civils/G-1/G-2 aren’t those studying for years but those who developed confidence to crack exam. Some people might take years to develop that confidence others believe in themselves, identify what they need for success and achieve what they want.

    Hi dilip sir,

thanks for your valuable sggetions . There is any chance to put negative marks in group 2 exam. and any chance to change exam pattern .

in the previous gr 2 questions i observed some questions are arrived from out of the gr 2 syllabus ( like in ap history sri krishnadevaraya in the actual syllubus rayalu was not there but in every gr 2 exam these questions are arrived) so is this common in gr 2 out of syllabus questions.

    thanking you sir,

    • May 7, 2012 at 3:47 PM

      Hi Siri,
As of now no negative marks in G-II and don’t expect it in near future. The syllabus mentioned for any competitive exam is indicative in nature and you can be asked at whatever depth the examiners wishes and there is no question of “out of syllabus” as this is not a typical year end annual exam like intermediate/degree.It doesn’t mean examiners can ask anything in between earth and sky as they do understand what is exactly syllabus from their experience.Going through previous years can help you to identify what are the favourite areas of examiners in syllabus .
